Hi. I'm Mercy. As a Comm. Major, I should be better at this.

To encourage all those photographers frustrated with their own self portraits… This is how mine normally turn out. :) No worries, you are not alone.

Wanna know?

Wanna know how to turn a blessing into a curse?

Don’t appreciate and always want more.

Wanna know how to turn a curse into a blessing?

Get over yourself and find the joy in God.

I’ve just finished a really good movie, and am rather on a “happy high” from it. :)

However, is it just me or are you a bit bummed after finishing a good movie? You watch an hour and a half (or three hours if you are as obsessed with LOTR as my nieces are…) of intense emotion. The final credits end, you look around and think, “wow, I would love to do that”, or ” I would love to feel that”, or “I wish this was real in my life”. (Unless you just finished an incredibly sad or horrific movie; then you probably are grateful for your wonderfully-so-not-like-that-movie life you have currently.)

Facebook and movies have a similar effect on my life. I can be on facebook for a while, just enjoying catching up with friends, but if I am on too long or too often, I get a bit frustrated with my own life. Like the feeling after watching several “happy-feeling” movies in a short time frame, my emotions begin to get discontent with wherever I am in life when I spend too much time looking at friends’ photos or reading the news feed. Like checking out several incredible trips my friends post on fb photos, my life pales in comparison to the one week portrayed in Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz’s movie “Knight and Day”. You do realize it was only one week or so, right? Think of how cool their life must be! (If, of course, their characters were real and really living that life right now…I know they aren’t… just sayin… it would be pretty chill to ride a motorcycle backwards and fight off bad guys…anywho…)

God, however, has planned the perfect life to fit me and the gifts He has given me. So, where I am @ in life right @ this moment, that is exactly where I am supposed to be. And He has provided the perfect tools to use my life for His best glory and my best joy. So, while I definitely love a great night of good food, a glass of wine (or hot tea or decaf coffee, etc) and a fabulous movie, I need to limit myself to make this an occasional treat.

Am I the only one who gets “movie-madness” or “facebook-frustration” after spending too much time dealing with these activities?
